Phew - after deliberating and agonizing and biting off all my nails, I've finally narrowed down my top five picks from the Pimp My Hook contest. Instead of making pretty babbling noises, since I know you're going to scroll down anyway, the winners are:

Sara Walker2. COLD SUMMER
Gwen Cole3. DEATH'S LIST
Caterina Torres4. FOREVER FRIDAY
Mara Rae5. MAKES YOU STRONGER

Manuscripts and synopses should be attached in RTF format; query blurb should be in the body of the email. Please use the following subject line:

Thanks so much to everyone who participated! There were so many awesome entries I had a rough time picking just five. I'll be up all night tonight, working my way through crits, so check back in the comments of the previous post tomorrow for your crit!
Update, 5pm 08.13.12: I'm still working on crits; if you haven't received one yet, don't worry, you will. My eyes keep doing this pesky thing where they try to close every 20 hours or so, but I'm working my way through in between other work.
Update, 11:23pm 08.14.12: Crits are DONE. I think. I hope. If I missed you, let me know.

Adrien-Luc, I've read the posted critiques, thus far. You're good! Impressed! FYI-you haven't gotten to SPARKLE yet. I've rewritten my opening from what I've learned from you:
My secret crush asked me to homecoming, only cuz his girlfriend was at home praying to the porcelain god. I couldn’t say no, but I felt like Cinderella without the ball gown. Where were those little birds now?
Thank you. I am now following you on Twitter
Not stalking. Congrats to the winners.
Congrats to the winners. Thank you Adrien-Luc. I've learned a ton from your critiques.
Oh, thank you so much! And congrats to the others. There were great entries
I think I've also learned from all the great crits you're posting! I've rewritten mine, since you haven't done it yet. If this isn't acceptable, please just ignore. Looking forward to any advice you're willing to share...on either opening.
Burying the mutilated dead was the hardest part about serving the Avatar of healing. Despite Quin’s military experience, the proscription of her faith made her shudder away from contact. But these were her people. People who suffered and died for their allegiance. They deserved to be treated with respect, no matter her discomfort.
Quin paused, clinging to the branch of the ruined oak. She needed to regain the feeling in her cold fingers. The ropes suspending the broken bodies of the Servants were soaked from days of rain, and the knots had to be sawed carefully. She blew on her hands, grateful for the faint heat.
Thanks! I also hope no husband biting has been necessary. They get cranky about that.
Thanks a ton. You are amazing at what you do. Learned a lot from these and would be honored to work with you on a MS someday.
You kick.
Thanks so much for doing the contest and taking time to give everyone in-depth feedback. I follow you on Twitter and have applied some of your #editortips to my manuscript. You have really great insights. Oh, and congratulations to the winners!
